I have been to see my daughter in Starkville to check out her new room at the Chi Omega House..
It is tiny, but she doesn't seem to mind...
That she has no bathroom in her room..It is down the hall..
She has no bathtub, but she does not care..
cause she is in college and living the times of her life..
I ask her, Do you know this is an amazing time in your life ?
You are on your own, but mom and dad are still picking up the tab..
She gets to learn ..I hope she is learning..
Hang out with her favorite people..I KNOW she is doing lots of hanging out !
The atmosphere was buzzing cause it was the first day of class...
People were swarming around everywhere..At the bookstore buying their books..
Changing their schedules..exercising. Folk, these kids were exercising everywhere..They must be a healthy bunch of Bulldog fans up there in Mississippi..
There was some shopping going on..girls looking at new Sorority stuff with their new logo, buying clothes for future football games...
Can you remember what you were like back then ?
I can't go there cause I might embarrass myself..At least I am a little more focused now than then !
I am not sure about that last statement..I am a little unfocused at the moment..
Anywho, I don't think I want to go back in time but I do have fond memories of life back then and I know all my girls have made lasting friendships..
College, what is it all about ? Learning to make a living or learning about yourself and life or both ? Let me know what you are thinking...
Loving you.. Robin

Can I even remember that FAR back. My years of 18-22 were all about ME. Would I change that? Probably not. It's a process that I needed to go through. The bonus is at the end of it you get a diploma, and a big splash of cold water in the face when you have to start living on your own..:}
Oh Robin! I've been reminiscing about my college years! Hard to believe it's been 10 years already since I pledged Chi O. I can't help but look back with a big smile and think that it was the time of my life! I'm sure in 10 years I'll look back on all these babies and wish they were still babies... now I'm wishing they all knew how to poop on the potty and wipe themselves! :) 10 years ago I never would have dreamed I'd be typing that sentence! But college is precious and I hope JC is living it up... it was a WONDERFUL TIME! Ok, screaming baby!!
Hey Miss Robin! It is so hard to believe that JC could be in college. It seems like yesterday that she was just a toddler. I hope you are well and please tell Lauren that I said hello. College was truly wonderful and I loved my Chi O days at Birmingham Southern. It was only a few years ago, well maybe 12. Thanks for sharing and helping me remember how much fun those days were. The friendships you build in college and your sorority continue forever. 7 of my sorority sisters and husbands all met in B'ham for a weekend in July and we had a blast.
Robin, I have two in college right now, one a senior, one a sophomore, at the same school. This is such a bittersweet time in life. I see them maturing so much, coming into their own faith, learning about themselves, about how to live with others, etc. When I went to school, I lived at home because we were in a college town, and it just didn't seem feasible to live in a dorm. (I come from a working class background.) So I missed all of that dorm experience, and I was married three weeks after graduating. So I have no sorority memories. I was all about getting married! --On another note, thank you for commenting today at my site about healing. It's a little discouraging to regularly get several comments about topics like hair color and none about subjects of substance. So, I really appreciated it.
Dad always said," Andi, we want you to have a well rounded education." I loved my soph.-senior year.
I learned so much, mainly spiritually and grew in my faith with Him in a new and profound way. IT took falling on my tail multiple times before and then seeing His face...I made wonderful friends that I treasure and adore. We all still keep up with each other. I learned how to teach and use the gift that the Lord has given me. I had a BLAST loving life, ADPi, and mainly learning a whole lot more about Him! I loved Samford, the city and of course the shopping! Not to mention the restaurants...ah yes, a well-rounded education. Thanks Dad! I had a great time!
