Happy Thanksgiving to you. It will soon be here. What does your family do for the day? That is, other than stuff yourself and love every second of it ,only to go back thirty minutes later and secretly eat another piece of pie.I know you have done it ! If you haven't you should try it it. I guess I may be the only glutton that tells the truth about what I do in private.
One of the funiest stories Dee's family likes to tell is of his dad one holiday. He was a big man and loved to eat almost as much as I do. Dee's mother, Mrs. Brookshire to me, says that food was the only thing he ever lied to her about. But anyho, the story goes that no one could find Dee's father anywhere. Everyone was looking and calling and soon he was found, sitting in the dark, in the living room in a chair knawing on a BIG turkey leg from Thanksgiving dinner. Now, I just tell you what, that man knew how to have a good time! Just my kind of man, eating a turkey leg in the dark!!!!
Our thanksgivings have changed over the years. When I was growing up we always went to my Mammaw's and ate a huge meal that was the same every year.Mammaw always had oyster dressing and chicken and dumplings. Then ,when I married we went to the farm where my first husbands family had a farmhouse and had a big blowout there.Pass eleven years... Next, We would alternate years going between Dee's home and my moms house. My maternal grandmother(LIL MOM) would always try and get me to watch her make dressing and I would just die because I did not want to do it. I hated putting my fingers in that egg stuff, Wished I had a paid attention now! Then we tried going to the beach a few years with my mom and my side of the family. Lauren and Lucy always continued to go to their dad's at the farm every year. Sometimes we would go to our lake house, just Dee,Jeane Carroll, and I and now we are back to going to the beach. It varies..Just the same ,we will cook and eat and be with those we love and most of all we will be thankful for the fact that we are with some of our extended family, That's it for me.. variety seems to be the spice of life with us.
I would love to hear about what some of you do.Comment to me, Please, I love to hear from you.
Things I am Thankful for
1. MY God, who is always there for me no matter what kind of crazy woman(sinner) I continue to be.
2. My immediate family who puts up with so much from me and my bad self .
3. My precious friends who bring such joy to my life, Who are so funny and crazy and make me laugh till my side hurts and cry and pray with me when I am sad.
4. My health, even though I am a bit padded, I am still ticking...
5. Ok..material girl is showing up...My home and all the stuff in it that I adore.
6. That God has given me so many things that I love to do and that I enjoy sharing my gifts with others.
7. My grandchildren who are just the cutest and sweetest and most precious in the whole entire world..I could go on but I know you are begging me to stop..
Happy Sunday to you. Loving all of you and hope your day is sweet and blessed . Robin

OK- first things first- Look at that blog!!! I LOVE it!!!! How in the world did you do that? I love the title!!!!! It is GREAT! Next- Thanksgiving- for us it can get hectic. We wake up and head to my mama's house. Lee, David, James, Alex, Mama, Deddy, Mama Nell and Paul and the 6 of us have a wonderful meal. I too have been told every year- now watch how I make this dressing!- I still have no clue! Then we pack up and go home for naps. I make a few things to take to the Stickler's house, and we are off again to eat at Ryan's parents house! His mom usually has an entire weekend planned for the family- well see!
Have a great time at the beach! Love you
