More of the Thanksgiving

On Thursday we got up early, Lauren, not Lucy, made us some sure nuff good ole Southern dressing. It was fabulous.

Now, Did I tell you that my Lauren is turning into a domestic goddess? She is loving being a stay at home mom and we are all so thankful that she is able to do this.

She jumped in there and made that dressing just like she had been making it for years.I loved watching her caring for her children this weekend. She is one good MAMA.

I made a coconut cake like Dee's mother makes and mine was not near as good.Yes, I said that , not as good as his mothers! I put the thing in the freezer, not in the fridge where it needed to be. We thawed it out, but it was dry to me. Dee did not DARE say it wasn't good, because he knew the weekend would have been ruined if HE had said it was not as good as his Mama's! Smart man of mine.

Lucy and Jason arrived mid morning and she brought so much good stuff with her.She made a squash casserole and sweet potatoes .

Dee cooked the turkey and I put the butter beans on. We did not get to make our congealed salad because there was no grater in the condo, but we all lived without the sunshine salad.

It was a great meal and with the smell of the turkey and the sounds of the Macy's day parade on the tv, we lived the American dream of Thanksgiving at the beach! It was great. Isn't it funny how our memories of past years mean so much to us in our expectations of the day?

Lauren dressed the children in their Thanksgiving finery and we girls got looking real cute for the camera . Now, we girls just love looking cute on special days. We think long and hard about what we are going to wear and how we will look in the pictures. It is a Southern girl ritual to look your best on holidays.Children thirty years down the road need to know how cute DeeDee and her girls were on the special days in life. I know this will not shape their future but, after all, it is a Gift to look cute on all declared holidays.

We slept and visited and laughed and had a good time being together. Now, let me say, this day did have some drama which occurred before we got to the beach, produced by Robin herself ,that was prayed over and forgiveness has been granted by all involved in the incident, that concerned the dressing! I am stating that Lauren, you did it! I was so wrong and underestimated your gifts. You are the greatest and are learning how to be such a great young woman, and I love you so much and have asked God's forgiveness of the incident.

Happy Turkey Day to all..
