Today is the wedding day for Casey Chambers. Casey is my friend Mitzi's only daughter. I haven gotten two chances of pulling off a wedding but with one daughter it is once and that's it! I know the day will be beautiful. Casey has come into herself since meeting fiance Winston. You can see a glow on her that only true love has something to do with. I can hardly wait to see his face as she walks down the long aisle of our church. Her dress is stunning to say the least. It looks just like her. Casey is a tall slender girl with striking features. The dress matches her perfectly.Their family is similar to ours as there are lots of them. Mark and Mitzi are both from large families. The cousins are close and they all came to Joe's (Cassey's brothers)wedding. I know they will all show for Casey. Dee is a trooper when it comes to weddings. He was taught growing up it is the the right thing to do to attend all and as many as possible. He observes all the southern rituals with me and the girls such as arriving early to get a good seat , sampling each item of food the mother of the bride has selected, sometimes even staying until the brides leaves, ect. Hats off to Mrs. Brookshire for training him ! I hear some husbands aren't that obliging when it comes to these customs...The girls and I will spend the day trying on our wedding outfits, sharing make-up tips, looking for the perfect shoe and purse to look proper for this exciting day. It is as big to us as it is the mother and father of the bride . Southern friends are just like that. We love to share the rituals and pass on our tips and joy to our friends when it is there turn.So ,off to a fun day of wedding preparations . The day for my friend Mitzi and her daughter is BIG for the Brookshire family. We can't wait to be there and share in the love of the the wedding of someone we have watched grow up and become a precious young woman. It will be an exciting day for us all.

Robin, what a great idea to start a blog and commemorate Casey's wedding with your thoughts. I will be at the church at 2:00 to host the "hospitality" table for the wedding party. They can enjoy snacks and beverages during the long (but oh so important!) picture taking time. I am thrilled to be a part of this beautiful "southern" tradition. What a gracious friend you are to not just the Chambers, but all who are honored to call you friend. P.S. you are way cool too!
Believing God, Lori
