Today was a great day because I got to be with my friend Anne and her girls and meet her new grandson, Thompson. We had a spur of the moment lunch together and it was way too much fun. If we had planned it , we could never had made this historic moment happen. We were all together ,with the exception of JC, who is off cruising..It is so rare that we all get to see each other. We made the most of the little time we had and just enjoyed catching up on each others lives. Allyn will soon be making an announcement that we have been long awaiting..
During lunch, I looked at Anne and said, Can you believe we are sitting here with our grandchildren? It seems we were just pledging ICH(Independent Chicks of Hattiesburg) in the 7th grade together. How does time pass so quickly?
Anne has been such a faithful friend of mine. She is a surrogate mother to my girls since they moved to the Eastern Shore. Anne has seen me through postpartum blues, children, divorce, remarriage, traumas of losing both my parents due to death, vacations together and numerous encounters that I can't begin to tell on the worldwide web. One that comes to mind, involved The Red Bar in Grayton Beach just over a year or so ago. Oh, the times we have shared.
Ann is a smocker, a talented seamstress, a mom, a wife, homemaker of many houses, can build a house in no time flat, decorator, cook, you name it , she can do it. One of her best gifts is keeping us all connected. She is good at keeping up with all our old friends and staying in touch with all of us. I love her and can't imagine my life without her. Today was special, my sweet friend. I bet ten years from now, we can sit at that same place with lots more children surrounding us. I am about to cry thinking of all the fun we have shared together over the years. Let's not forget all the tears we have shed, the counseling sessions that have been held , and the number of bottles of wine we have consumed together.. It all goes to say..Friends are the best when we let them be a real part of our lives. Thanks Anne for loving me..
Loving you , Old Friends are memories that we can think of with a smile..
