A Beautiful Testimony

Last night at our church, First Baptist, the room was filled and we all anxiously awaited to hear our friend, Ken Clark give his testimony. The service started with three of his four girls singing hymns of praise and worship.Taylor played the piano and sang also. It was so neat to look in the faces of these three girls and see their mama's smile and joy in their eyes. I am not kidding, They did not shed one tear because these girls are remarkable little ladies who were there to share God's word and witness to us about the death of their mother through music. I know these girls have shed many tears over the loss of their mother, because they are human and they miss her ,but last night they sang, they made their mama proud, and mostly they were there to support their dad who has lost his life companion and friend.

Ken started his testimony by talking about how we all have trouble in life. He stated that you might be in it now, if not, it is coming your way, or perhaps you have just come from the fire, none the less, we all have it, will have it, or it is right around the corner. The good news, Ken shared is how God has seen him through this walk with his wife, Becky. He shared in dates and years Becky's battle with cancer. Most of us knew the details and he did not go into the how and why, but what he has learned through this journey.

Now, how does a man who has just been through the trial of his life, have the tenacity to stand in front of us and share his heart with us without bawling like a baby and just collapsing on the podium. That would be what I would have done, but Ken has a faith that God is holding him upright and keeping him standing when he feels like doing what I just mentioned.

He told us that God is in charge of all things. He told us , this life is not going to be easy. He said he had a choice every day of the last six weeks of Becky's life to worry or worship. He chose to worship the Lord who was in charge of the cancer. He said some days he had to take life minute by minute. He called it an eternal perspective. We are not made by God, but for God. It is not about him, but about God. He also said he wanted his testimony to not be about him but about how he desires to live a life that is pleasing to God.

He shared many scriptures that have comforted him such John14 in the area of trust. John 10;10, he talked about obeying God and that Satan is lurking around every corner , no matter how old you are waiting to attack. He shared with us that we need abundant life, not instant gratification. When we accept Christ we are sealed by the Holy Spirit.

He talked of his white knuckle faith, This where you are praying so hard your knuckles turn white. You have to hang on to who God is,even when we don't feel like it, This goes along with the verses in Hebrews 11:1 and Hebrews 11:11, and Hebrews 11:35.

At the end of his talk he shared that God knew about something better for his wife and mother of his children. Do we understand it? No, but, we trust it if we belong to him and that is how he gets through those long nights and days without his best friend.

He challenged us to look at where we are this very moment in our walk with the Lord? It was such a blessing to have him share his heart with those who love him and his family. Please continue to pray for him and his girls, Becky's mom and dad, her sister, Alice, and the rest of their family.

All I can say his, Wow...God is good, even when we don't get it..He is good and faithfull and will walk with us holding our hand.

Loving you all and praying for that kind of faith on days that I miss my friend.

Thank you for sharing about Ken's testimony and the girls. It's so amazing to see God's love lived out in that family. I love to read your blogspot. It makes me feel connected with you and my friends in Dothan. Sunday night was like a flashback for me...Lauren was sitting beside me and Brent in church listening to the youth choir and watching people being baptized. It was so good to have them worship with us. I hope ya'll can come too sometime soon. Know I have been praying for Dee and I keep Brent informed from your blogspot. We will be praying on Thursday for a good Dr.'s report.
Love you all, Tammy
