What a great weekend we had at Mississippi State. The DAWGS pulled it off in the last few minutes of the game! It was so exciting. There is nothing like a college campus on game day. It is just full of electricityThere were lots of maroon and white outfits, The air is filled with smells of barbecue and fried chicken. Every tent had a fall pot of mums, even though it was 90 something degrees out there.I was pretending to be cute because it was homecoming but did not fool anyone that I was hot and sweaty. Dee kept saying , why didn't you wear comfortable shoes and I tried to explain they didn't match but he just can't understand. Pat and I had these cute mini cowbells we rang throughout the game(wedding favors). We got to meet some of Jeane Carroll's friends and that was great. The Chi Omega Brunch was fun and we met her little sister and parents . The dad was a college buddy of Dee's. We also ran into several other old friends at the Chi Omega House. I never thought I would be having such a good time in the Chi O House!! Pat got the tour and loved it. I hope Christin can come and see it at least one game day.We got to have dinner with friends Nancy Borland who looked great and her daughter Mary Catherine . Mary Catherine is atheltic advisor for the team we played. The Lee's, Mamie, Mary and Jeane Carroll were also with us.Our culinary treat was at the Veranda in Starkville right after the game. Our plans for Friday night went from bad to worse. Lets just say we went from five star to Kentucky Fried Chicken in a matter of about an hour scanning two cities in the desolate Mississippi towns of Columbus and West Point.I know there must be some good restaurants out there that can take us in, was our cry.Oh well, better planning next time. We just hope we can find a room somewhere for the State -Alabama Game.
We celebrated Ross's birthday at City Bagel in Starkville on Sunday. He and Jeane Carroll were both headed to church from there. They both had late nights but were up and at them. I know they made big efforts to be with us over the weekend and we enjoyed seeing them so very much. We did lots of laughing with The Lee's in and out of the car. They are such precious friends and neighbors to us. We are so blessed to have Christan friends who share our same interests and love our family. We can sometimes be unlovable but they hang with us through the good and bad of life.
Russell got us back safe and sound in time for my Bible Study Sunday afternoon. I am doing Beth Moore's study , Living Beyond yourself. It is a study of the fruit of the Spirit.I have learned a lot this week as we are looking at the study on JOY.Beth talks about that Christ wants us to bring joy to one another. She states that our gifts are not just for ourselves but they are for the body of Christ. He gave us to one another to enjoy! If we don't enjoy the body of Christ and don't know why we must ask God to reveal the reason to us. She says this world is too painful to bear without experiencing the joy of fellow believers! We can all wear a mask at certain times but we all share one serious problem and that is we feel like outsiders in the body of Christ. She suggested we ask God to make us sensitive to those who are lonely in the body of Christ. How often we stick with those who we feel comfortable. I am going to pray to take a risk this week and reach out to someone that will become my joy. Read Psalm 51:12-13, Beth says joy not only comes from the body of Christ, but also adds joy to the body of Christ!People are searching for a joy which comes from the inside. Be ready when someone asks you how you can get joy! 1 Peter 3:15. But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have, But do this with gentleness and respect.
Hope you have a good day and remember to pray for Becky Clark and Hank Gregory. I got Hanks bio.. a little wrong. Hank is 37 and has one son and two daughters. His mom is coveting our prayers as he is having surgery on Tuesday.Loving each of you...Robin
