Weddings,Family,and Old Friends

The wedding of my niece Mary Brook Allen was so beautiful. The ceremony was sacred and a reminder that Mary Brook and PK are children of God and know who brought them together.Martha Ann and PK's sister sang a beautiful duet and I was sobbing before Mary Brook and her dad walked the aisle of this old and remarkable church. It is one of those sanctuary's that does not need a lot of decoration. The flowers were in fall colors and matched the bridesmaids gowns perfectly. They were a dark blue, almost the color of navy. Dee's mother, Mrs. Brookshire looked so elegant in her yellow. She has worn it to several weddings as grandmother of the bride. It is so great on her ,why buy new when this fits and looks stunning on her? Carolyn(MOB) was as equally striking in her long dress. She was beaming and so happy. How is it moms can look so good when they have worked so hard and had lots of sleepless nights preparing for this special day for their daughters? Then here comes the bride..We were sitting up close and personal so we could see every detail.Mary Brook's dress was very feminine and she looked like a tiny Barbie Doll from the back. The dress had a satin ribbon around the waist tied in a bow. She wore the veil that her mom and aunts had worn at their weddings. She was so pretty and she is that beautiful on the inside. PK was so happy and you know the rest..I am such a sucker for all the romance and goings on..It is fun but at the same time a serious occasion. The reception was held at the church fellowship hall. It had tall ceilings and rivaled any hotel that I have seen. They even had a band and guests danced at the BAPTIST Church..Can you believe it? I like this change in time.

The rehearsal dinner was also a whole Lot of fun. I know I should have started with this but you know I am a little backward! We were seated at a table with our old friends Melinda and Wayne Ross from Hattiesburg. Their son Daniel is a good friend of PK's. Another man at the table was a Sigma Chi brother of Dee's from college days and he was actually in their wedding many moons ago, Another lady at the table was a high school friend of Dee's from Meridain. But the best of all was the striking girl Daniel was accompanied by. She turned out to be the youngest daughter of my high school best friend Lisa Hocutt Stiglets. Now, I know you can't believe these things are happening to me because I am way to YOUNG to be having these incidents occur. Lauren and Lucy enjoyed catcing up with Daniel and Ashley at the reception. They all played together in our first life. The favors at the dinner were cowbells ,MSU style...They also rang them at the reception when the bride and groom left. What a fitting way to celebrate for these MSU grads.

Mary Brook and PK were leaving the next morning on a 6 o'clock flight from Jackson and guess who was on the plane? Their Uncle Dee also had the same flight. He told them he had been sent to make sure they were ok..Dee promised not to embarrass Mary Brook but I will check that one out with her when she returns from her honeymoon. The bridesmaids luncheon was also lots of fun. We had it at Jane's lovely home in Flowood. It is incredible and I am so happy for her to have a new place to make memories. She made it sound like a little old house but it is really fabulous. She has impeccable taste and it was evident in her decor. The aunts had a good time planning and holding the luncheon.

We all left early Sunday morning going our separate ways. I took Dee's mother to Meridian and then on to Daphne. We have been at Lucys home today helping her paint the dining room table and chairs that were my mothers. I wish those chairs could talk..I bet they know a lot of stuff about our family and friends that were spoken over the years. Lucy is the chief decorator and is letting us be her helpers. It is a Little like Cottage Living minus the interior decorator in the picture. We were looking pretty grungy out there in the heat painting. I will have Lauren post some pictures for you. Lauren is cooking poppy seed chicken for her baby sister tonight and I know we will laugh hard about our project for the day.

I can't sign off without asking you to pray for Copeland's parents and sister tonight. This family has given me a wake up call. We need to let go of the little things in life and tell the people we love the most, about how much we care about them. Give your mom, sister, children , and husband a hug tonight. Make it count . Hug em tight and tell them what it is you love about them.. Also remember my friend Becky. Loving each of you...Robin
